Have you ever placed your iPhone on a wireless charger before bed, only to wake up and find it never actually charged because it wasn’t lined up properly? A charger with Apple’s MagSafe wireless standard might be in order. PCMag has been writing about the iPhone since its 2007 debut and MagSafe since its introduction on the iPhone 12, so we can help point you toward some worthwhile options. Most Affordable Overall
Anker MagGo Magnetic Wireless Charger (Pad)
Why We Picked It
Anker’s MagGo Magnetic Wireless Charger Pad offers all the key features you need for about half the price of Apple’s entry. It supports charging speeds of up to 15W, is available in black or white, and conveniently ships with a five-foot USB-C-to-USB-C cable.
Who It’s For
This is the MagSafe charger to get if you want to save money and don’t care about buying Apple-branded accessories. Qi2 support could come in handy for your other devices, and you can add a 25W wall adapter for just a few extra dollars.
MagSafe or MagSafe Compatible?
In addition to helping ensure your phone is actually charging when it snaps into place, MagSafe offers the maximum wireless charging speed possible for your compatible iPhone. No, it won’t charge your phone as quickly as a fast-charging adapter, but it works twice as fast as standard Qi wireless chargers.
Keep in mind that MagSafe chargers and MagSafe-compatible chargers aren’t the same. A MagSafe charger supports a maximum output of 15W and has a built-in magnetometer and compass to prevent interference if you use your iPhone while charging. Chargers that are MagSafe-compatible rely on the Qi charging standard, max out at a charging speed of 7.5W, and don’t feature anti-interference features. Those compromises could be a deal breaker for some, but you might not care in light of their lower cost.
